Arizona Insurers, Fire Districts and Fire Chiefs Launch Wildfire Preparedness Radio Campaign |
Arizona Homeowners and Renters: Are You Ready and Set to Go in a Wildfire?
PHOENIX, AZ – In an effort to remind Arizonians to prepare for wildfire season three trade associations have created a partnership and are launching a paid radio campaign to urge homeowners and renters to prepare both finances and property for wildfire season. The partnership includes the Arizona Fire District Association (AFDA), the Arizona Fire Chief’s Association (AFCA) and the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI).
“We are launching this radio campaign to spread the message in high risk wildfire areas to remind residents what they can do now to prepare both their property and finances for wildfires,” said Kelly Campbell, PCI vice president. “Now is the time to make a home inventory and talk to your agent or insurance company to update your policy. These simple steps will prepare your finances and provide the tools necessary to recover.”
AFDA, AFCA and PCI have created a partnership to educate Arizona residents about what they can do to make a difference during wildfire season. The radio ads will run for two weeks on KQNA-AM and KPPV-FM covering Payson, Crown King, Prescott Valley, Flagstaff and Herber-Overgaard. Wildfire awareness radio ads will also run on KHYT-FM covering Bisbee, Sierra Vista, Patagonia and Oracle.
“We intend this radio campaign to be a wakeup call for residents in the high risk communities and motivate them to get ready and set to go in a wildfire,” said Chief Simon Davis, AFDA chair. “Making the effort to mitigate damage before a fire breaks out will make a difference if sparks ignite. We know defensible space slows a wildfire and protects lives and property. Our radio ads direct listeners to a website where they can get more tools and tips on how to prepare (www.picaa.net/wildfire).”
“Fire districts and fire departments are located in the high risk communities and we are here to help residents get ready to prevent fires,” said Chief Mary Cameli, President for AFCA. “We need to have an ongoing conversation about what to do to prevent loss of life and property. These ads will spark attention and get that conversation going.”
Arizona’s high risk wildfire communities are: Alpine, Bisbee, Crown King, Greer, Herber-Overgaard, Flagstaff, Jacob Lake, Oracle, Patagonia, Payson, Pinetop-Lakeside, Portal, Prescott/Prescott Valley, Show Low, Sierra Vista, Springerville,
