Washington – The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) elected new officers, effective January 1, 2021, to its Board of Directors during the association’s annual meeting business meeting. Greg Crabb, president and CEO of Amerisure Companies was elected as APCIA’s chair, effective January 1, 2021, and Alan Schnitzer, chairman and CEO of The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV), was elected chair-elect, effective January 1, 2021.
“We are thrilled Greg will lead APCIA as Board chair beginning January 1,” said David A. Sampson, president and CEO of APCIA. “Over the last several years, Greg has demonstrated that he is one of the property casualty industry’s most thoughtful leaders. He advocates for APCIA’s interests effectively and with the greatest degree of civility, statesmanship, and diplomacy.
“Alan has demonstrated his visionary leadership as chairman and CEO of Travelers. He was a great partner in all the merger negotiations that created APCIA and will bring his passion for thought leadership to his role as an APCIA officer. APCIA members will benefit greatly from having Greg and Alan at the helm.

Greg Crabb is president and CEO of Amerisure Companies. He joined Amerisure in April 2008 as chief administrative officer with accountability for claims, human resources, information technology, internal audit, and legal. Prior to joining Amerisure, he held various positions at The Hartford. He currently serves on the Board of Business Leaders for Michigan, U.S. Department of Treasury’s Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance (FACI), and Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan. Crabb is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario. He also received a Juris Doctorate from Emory University.
Alan Schnitzer – APCIA’s Chair-elect

Alan Schnitzer is chairman and CEO of Travelers. He joined Travelers in April 2007 as vice chairman and chief legal officer. He then went on to lead the company’s Financial, Professional and International Insurance segment and subsequently the company’s Business and International Insurance segment. Schnitzer serves as a Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania and on the Board of Directors of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and New York City Ballet. Schnitzer is a graduate of The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia Law School.
