We are pleased to inform you that the merger of the American Insurance Association (AIA) and the Property Casualty Insurers Association (PCI) has received strong support from both memberships and will take effect on January 1, 2019. The combined trade — the American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) — will speak for nearly 60 percent of the U.S. property-casualty insurance market, representing the full breadth of the industry and creating a more unified and influential advocacy voice.

The merged entity will reflect the broad diversity of the united membership and continue both organizations' strong support for promoting and improving private competitive insurance market solutions and the U.S. state-based regulatory system through effective public policy engagement. The new organization also will be well-positioned to tackle an increasingly disruptive economic, regulatory, technological, and political environment. This strategic decision will allow APCIA to function in a more proactive way to shape — and not just respond to — the advocacy issues affecting the industry.

Some work still lies ahead to fully integrate the two organizations. AIA and PCI staff are committed to maintaining continuity during the transition, delivering a strong value proposition to our members, and providing ongoing thought leadership for the industry.

Starting in January, AIA member company representatives will be provided new website log-in information. PCI members' website credentials will not change. AIA and PCI member companies will be able to access full APCIA advocacy information and compliance resources by logging into www.pciaa.net.

APCIA member company staff also will be receiving additional information on key contacts. The re-branding of the new association and a transition to a new APCIA website will be phased in over the course of 2019, so that members do not lose the AIA and PCI resources that they rely on for advocacy and compliance.

On behalf of the Boards, members, and staff of both organizations, we thank you for your support over the past several months and ask your patience as we fully integrate into the new APCIA in the months ahead. We very much look forward to working together in 2019.
